Word of the Bishop June 19th
Father’s Day After Mother’s Day there are also had to be a Father’s Day and so it came to be. In 1909 Sonora Smart introduced her first ever Father’s Day following the first ever Mother’s Day which was inspired by Anna Jarvis. She admired her father, an old war veteran, because he had raised the family with six children skillfully. Her mother had died during the birth of the sixth child. U.S. President Nixon succeeded in getting Father’s Day officially introduced in 1972. Let us honor all fathers who stand up for their family and children and work hard to offer their family a bright future.
